Bollywood diva Kartina Kaif considers her ex-boyfriend Salman Khan’s advice as invaluable.

Speaking about Salman in an interview with Screen’s Editor Priyanka Sinha Jha, Katrina said, “I can’t speak for other people but at the end of the day, your work has to credit you and it has to take you forward, but personally do I think Salman’s advice has been important? Yes, I think it’s been invaluable.”

“He’s had a very strong basic sense of the working of the film industry, so that’s helpful. But it’s quite similar to Anushka Sharma and all other YRF protégés having Adi (Aditya Chopra) advise them. In my case having Salman and his circle to give me advice was definitely very useful and very important,” she added.

Katrina was introduced to B-town by Salman Khan and the duo was even rumoured to be dating each other.

Later, it was reported that the duo broke up and Katrina is said to be dating her “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” co-star Ranbir Kapoor and Salman has been linked to Romanian actress and television anchor Lulia Vantur.

Even after their break up, they were paired opposite each other in one of the biggest hits of 2012- “Ek Tha Tiger”. Despite the split, the duo is said to be sharing a very cordial relationship.

During the interview, Katrina also attributed her success to her destiny. “I think it’s a lot about your destiny. I am a religious person and I think God does have a plan for you, but beyond that it is about how driven you are. I am very driven. Ek Tha Tiger with Salman (Khan) and me was a huge success even though everyone was saying it wouldn’t work, Yashji’s film was also a dream. It was very important for me to be a part of a Yash Chopra film, but I still feel that there’s something that needs to be done.”

Katrina is currently shooting for Aamir Khan starrer “Dhoom 3″ which is set for release in December this year. She also has in her kitty another project with Hrithik Roshan that has been titled, “Bang Bang’.

Riteish Deshmukh walked out on Salman Khan’s Mumbai Heroes in the Celebrity Cricket League to form his own team, Veer Marathi. However, he will now once again play for his former team.

The actor will be a part of the Mumbai Heroes line-up, led by Suniel Shetty, in the charity match against Members of Parliament (MP) at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala on May 20.

Suniel is excited to have one of the most promising players in Bollywood back in the team. “Riteish was our vice captain for two seasons before moving on to a new franchise as the owner and captain. It’s certainly a nostalgic feeling and I am happy to have him back,” says Suniel. The funds raised from this match will go towards the welfare of sports in India.

They will take on MPs like Mohammad Azharuddin, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sachin Pilot and Milind Deora, among others.

After having helped Sonakshi Sinha in making a blockbuster Bollywood debut with the movie ‘Dabangg’, Salman Khan is now said to be giving the beautiful lady some useful tips to improve her painting skills.

According to a leading daily, the 25-year-old actress and her mentor have one thing in common, which is their interest in painting. Sonakshi, who is all set to promote her upcoming movie ‘Lootera’- in which she plays the character of an artist, has decided to paint live at the launch event of one of her songs in the film.

“Sonakshi, like Salman, has the same hobby that is painting. She likes a lot of Salman’s works of art, so much so that she calls herself a fan of his paintings. And recently, Sonakshi has been taking advice from Salman about painting live for the media,” a source close to movie crew said.

The insider also asserted that it was the makers who wanted Sinha to paint live with the media around, on the launch of the song ‘Sawaar loon’- that is based on her and Ranveer Singh’s roles and captures the journey of them falling in love while Sinha teaches Singh how to paint.

“She seems quite prepared to put up a good performance,” the source said.

Director of the movie, Vikramaditya Motwane, said, “Sonakshi has always been fond of Salman’s paintings and we are going to paint live for the media at the launch of our first song.”

An official spokesperson of the movie added, “It’s true that Sonakshi has been taking tips from Salman and everyone will get to see her work at the launch.”

Shortcut Romeo director Susi Ganesan is already working on his next project, a 3D superhero action film and wants to cast superstar Salman Khan for the lead role.

“We are looking for an A-lister. Due to the social message in the film, I am thinking of Salman Khan,” Ganeshan told IANS.

The shooting for the yet-untitled film is expected to commence at the year-end and Ganeshan added: “The script is already over… It will release next year.”

Currently the director is looking forward to the release of “Shortcut Romeo”, which will also be promoted at the forthcoming Cannes film fest. A remake of Ganeshan’s Tamil film “Thiruttu Payale”, which was a huge hit in South, the Hindi version stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Puja Gupta and Ameesha Patel.

It is learnt that the actor has been personally involved in trying to find a way to make the lives of the farmers better.

Salman Khan comes to the rescue of the thousands of farmers in Maharashtra. What should have been a government initiative or an undertaking by a multinational company, has been done by one man.

His Being Human Foundation has taken up the task to ensure that the drought-hit villages in Marathwada district never face water shortage ever again.

It is learnt that the actor has been personally involved in trying to find a way to make the lives of the farmers better.

Salman was in touch with the Chief Minister’s Office and learnt that water tanks are being sent to the villages but the farmers didn’t have any facility to store water. After research and talks with experts, he found that the drought situation was not so much for lack of water. Water was only a problem for six months of the year.

The area gets rain but they have no facility to save and conserve. Salman realised that to improve the farmers’ condition, that had to change. So he asked his team to buy water tanks and deliver them before the rains so the villages don’t have water shortage next year. These tanks can be used for at least 10 years.

On Tuesday, the foundation provided 2,500 water tankers with a storage capacity of 2,000 litre each to the drought-affected districts. The NGO supplied 750 water tankers to Beed, 500 each to Osmanabad and Jalna, and 250 each to Aurangabad and Nanded.

The actor, who is currently shooting for his film Mental in Goa, was unavailable for comment.

According to a leading daily, the 47-year-old actor, who is famously known as the Godfather and mentor to not only Katrina but many other Bollywood heroines, is reportedly co-producing the Canadian movie- ‘Dr Cabbie’ – which is said to be Isabelle’s debut movie.

Apart from Isabella, other actors in this movie are Vinay Virmani – last seen in ‘Speedy Singhs’ in 2011 – and Adrianne Palicki – who was in ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ earlier this year.

Along with Kaif’s sister, Kunal Nayyar – from American TV series, ‘The Big Bang Theory’- is also said to be making his debut in films with this project.

The movie, which is said to be distributed in India by Eros International, is estimated to be a $25 million project.

“Isabelle went through the audition process like all the other actors. She was cast based on her performance and only because she was a perfect fit for the role,” a spokesperson of Eros said about Isabelle’s casting.

The story of the movie revolves around a young Indian doctor who has newly arrived in Canada and has to work as a taxi driver after being turned down by some local medical schools.

The film, which is being directed by the famous Canadian director Jean-François Pouliot, is currently being shot in Canada.

The foundation will provide 2,500 water tankers with a storage capacity of 2,000 litres each to the drought affected districts of Marathwada from May 6 to 31, according to an e-mail received recently by the Aurangabad Divisional Commissioner from Salman’s ‘Being Human’ Foundation.

Beed Residential District Collector BM Kamble said they had also received a mail regarding this from the divisional commissioner yesterday.

“We have received an e-mail that Beed district will get 750 water tanks from ‘Being Human’ foundation. We have informed the Divisional Commissioner for distribution of these tanks,” Kamble said.

As per the e-mail, the NGO would supply 750 water tankers to Beed, 500 each to Osmanabad and Jalna, and 250 each to Aurangabad and Nanded.

“Everybody does charity, but not everybody likes to talk about it. Some may do it for personal benefits, to stay in the limelight or others might do it genuinely. According to me, you may do charity for any reason, but do it anyways. No matter what the intention is,” Salman told reporters.

When it comes to donation, the “Dabangg” star feels it’s even better to do it first hand.

“Rather than going and giving money to a place where you don’t know how it will be utilised, it is better to make direct charity like funding a child’s education. At least you can see the results yourself,” he said.

Salman Khan has been spotted enjoying romantic strolls with Daisy Shah, with some sources close to the stars saying they are now a couple.

Salman Khan – who has had his fair share of controversies in the past – is going through a rough patch on his career front this year.

According to a leading daily, with an impasse over the clash between stuntmen from the South and Mumbai, the King of blockbusters has lost almost 12 days of shooting for ‘Mental’ and has also incurred a loss of a whooping 25 crore.

Sohail Khan – the producer-director of ‘Mental’ – has hired a leading South Indian fight master for his upcoming flick abiding by the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC), according to which 70% of the fighters have to be local and 30% from the region of the fight master.

In case of ‘Mental’, fighters from the South refused to shoot and demanded that 50% of their men be hired for the action scenes.

“The unit had to return within a week even though it was a 15-day schedule in Kolhapur because the fighters refused to shoot. There was another schedule in Lavasa, which was a continuity sequence from a Dubai shoot that needed the same fighters. There too, the Film Employees` Federation of South India (FEFSI) refused to send their stuntmen,” a source said.

Dharmesh Tiwari, President of AIFEC, said “The FEFSI is not ready to follow the rule passed in March 2013, and they are forcing the producer to take 50% of their fighters.”

Salman Khan, who has been shooting in Panvel for his next film, Mental, paid a surprise visit to Manmohan Shetty’s new venture. The entrepreneur and creator of India’s first entertainment theme park, Adlabs Imagica, was only too happy to open the gates of his dream project for Khan. On April 17, he opened the park for his friend, who went for a spin on a ride called Mr India.

He was intrigued by the motion stimulator ride and had Ashmit Patel for company. Shetty’s younger daughter Aarti (creative director of the park) also took him around for a tour. Salman seemed to relive his childhood days at the park. He checked out many rides but said he would never sit on the 180 swing, the Scream Machine.

He has mentored many aspiring actors and has helped them realize their dreams. Godfather and a friend to people and a foe to others, this hunk of an actor has been instrumental in keeping the Box Office registers ringing in the recent past.

No doubt, Salman Khan rules the roost professionally but the bad news is that he is in the middle of an edgy personal phase.

This time, he has gone out of his way to host a special screening of his upcoming film, Chashme Baddoor, for two of his favourite actors, Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor. Dhawan has, in fact, reshuffled his promotional tour dates just for this.

Chashme Baddoor releases on April 5. Ahead of that, there are promotional tours planned for Dubai and Delhi, the dates for which have now been changed. A source close to the film says, “Dhawan has been meaning to show Salman and Karisma his next film, as they’ve worked with him in the past and delivered big hits. They were one of his all-time hit pairs.”

The source further explains that “the screening was to happen last week, but due to Salman’s busy schedule, it was postponed.”

The screening will now happen on April 4. “Dhawan has had to alter his tours. As per the original plan, the team was to go to Dubai on April 3 and Delhi on April 4 and 5.

The team is now leaving for Dubai on April 2 and will be in Delhi on April 3 and 4. They will then take an early flight back to Mumbai on April 4 to make it to the special screening at a suburban preview theatre.”

There seems to be no end to the scheduling snarls in Salman Khan’s career. Now the 3-week break for his medical checkup and the legal hearings have taken their toll on the superstar on a roll.

We hear his films this year are affected due the double brakes applied to his career. The film that is most affected is producer Boney Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee’s No Entry Mein Entry, the sequel to the 2005 hit No Entry, which has again been pushed forward.

A source close to the project reveals, “Salman’s schedules have again spun out of hand. He wanted to complete his brother Sohail’s film and then go straight into No Entry Mein Entry as it has been delayed long enough. But now with his recent trip abroad for treatment, the date situation for this year is again a little shaky.”

When contacted producer Boney Kapoor, he admitted that there was a strong possibility of a delay. “We may not be able to start No Entry Mein Entry in June. It may be pushed forward by some weeks. But we really don’t mind waiting. Once Salman’s health and his other issues are sorted, he will be far more relaxed.”

Anees Bazmee who is habituated to directing an average of 2 films a year has been waiting patiently for Salman’s dates for the No Entry sequel. Rather than wait any longer, one learns Anees may first start the sequel to Aankhen for producer Pahlaj Nihalani.

Months after the release of Ek Tha Tiger comes the buzz that the star will do another project with the late Yash Chopra’s production house.

Apparently Sallu has already heard out the script and has given a go-ahead for the project, to be helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

A source says, “Contrary to the recent speculation that Salman had issues with Aditya Chopra’s banner and that he won’t be working with them again, rumours are that he will be doing one more film with them. Zafar had also directed Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and is currently helming Gunday for the banner.”

Insiders say the film will go on the floors only next year as Salman’s timetable has films by Ramesh Taurani and Sajid Nadiadwala on priority. The official spokesperson of YRF says, “Ali is currently shooting Gunday and has nothing else planned for now.”

Sallu remained unavailable for comment.

According to reports, Salman Khan has decided not to have any item number in his upcoming film Mental. Reportedly Mental is a serious film so Sohail who is making his directorial comeback has decided to go without item numbers.

Interestingly, Salman’s recent hits like – Wanted, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, Ready and Bodyguard all had hit item numbers.

At the recent Renault STAR Guild Awards, Hema Malini made a candid confession.

When host Salman Khan asked her to dance with him on her famous song, “Hawa Ke Saath Saath,” from “Seeta aur Geeta” that was partly filmed on roller skates, Hema admitted she had still not learnt how to skate – 31 years after the film released.

The actress stated that she wanted to do so but somehow she never got around to it.

Hema Malini and Salman Khan share a great rapport and he has been close to even Dharmendra, who headed the cast of his maiden home production, “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya,” in 1998.

Writer Chetan Bhagat, who turns screenplay-writer with Kick, is upset with reports claiming that Salman Khan has “rejected” the script written by him. The 3 Mistakes author said he hasn’t even met the Dabangg actor for the film.

The rumour has left Chetan Bhagat baffled. “I haven’t even met Salman at all on Kick! The script is not done yet. I am working with only Sajid Nadiadwala and his team on the script,” he wrote on Twitter.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala turns director with the movie, which has Salman Khan in the lead. Nadiadwala starts shooting for Kick from June 1.

A source close to the project divulged that on this occasion, Salman is in a completely non-interfering mode.

“He is maintaining a hands-free attitude to Kick. It is true that nowadays Salman Khan approves of every department in his films from script to director to cameraman to co-stars before a project takes off. But Kick is entirely his buddy Sajid Nadiadwala’s baby and Salman is treating it that way. He has very clearly told Sajid, “Jo karna hai kar. I am with you.”

Video jockey-turned-actor Ayushmann Khurrana was on cloud nine when superstar Salman Khan asked him for a singing lesson at a recent award function. Ayushamnn, 28, bagged the best singer male award for Paani da rang from his debut film Vicky Donor at the recently held Renault Star Guild Awards 2013. Sajid Nadiadwala had expressed to Salman that Ileana would fit the bill in the Hindi version of ‘Kick’, but the tempestuous star was quite keen to rope in Padukone for the film.

“Salman has repeatedly been saying how wonderful it would be to work with Deepika, and what a great pair they would make,” said the insider.

‘Kick’ came Deepika’s way as the leading lady is expected to perform some kick-ass stunts. And Deepika, who has an athletic background would do justice to the action scenes.

“Sajid Nadiadwala wants Salman’s leading lady in Kick to perform heavy duty martial arts and stunts. Deepika is perfect for the part,” added the source.

‘Kick’, starring Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan, is all set to kick-start on June 1, 2013.
