The buzz is that actor Salman Khan has penned the script of Veer, and that he had approached Sanjay Leela Bhansali to direct the film. But when Bhansali politely declined, Khan roped in Anil Sharma to be the captain of the ship.

However, a close friend of Bhansali, states that Bhansali was never approached to direct Veer. Sanjay and Salman are close friends and the filmmaker still maintains that he owes his career to Salman Khan. “

So if Salman were to offer me a script to direct, I’d accept to direct it, irrespective of whatever commitments I may have,” says Bhansali. He also believes in Salman, the scriptwriter. “He’s Salim Khan’s son, so writing must be in his genes,” Bhansali’s quoted to have said.
