Ropar District Magistrate Alok Shekhar Thursday issued notice to producer company of the Film ‘Mera Desh Mahan’ starring Preity Zinta, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan for organising the shooting of the film near Ropar without his prior permission.

He has also directed the police to stop the shooting of the film immediately.

The District Magistrate has issued notice to Future Pictures Company Pvt.Ltd., Mumbai under whose banner the film is being produced. It may be mentioned that the Assistant production manager of ‘Darshan Aulakh Productions Ltd.Chandigarh’ Gurpreet Singh had made a written request to the District Magistrate on behalf of the producer company seeking permission for holding shooting of the film at village Garbhagha and adjoining river Sutlej near Ropar for three days between June 25 to July 10. The process for the same was on and the permission was yet to be given by the district  magistrate.

However, the producers started the shooting of the film in the fields of village Alampur/Bahadarpur today without the requisite permission of the District Magistrate, taking serious note of this, the District Magistrate issued notice to the Future Pictures Company Pvt.Ltd. and directed the SSP to stop the shooting of the film immediately.

It may be mentioned that prohibitory orders under section 144 of Cr.PC have already been in force banning the holding assembly of five or more persons in the district without the prior permission of the administration and a case under section 188 of IPC could be registered against the producers for the same for violating the prohibitory oreders.

It is also alleged that the producers of the film also started the shooting in the fields without obtaining the permission of the concerned farmers, who had lodged string protest over the same. They alleged that their crops had been damaged due to the shooting and demanded  compensation for the same.

It is also alleged that producers had misbehaved with the general public who had gone to see the shooting. Meanwhile, a large number of people gathered to see the shooting and film stars Preity  Zinta and Salman Khan.
