No Veer for Bhansali

Salman first approached Sanjay Bhansali to direct Veer, but the director refused the offer.

Whenever Sanjay Leela Bhansali has approached Salman Khan, the actor has acted in his films.

But after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Khamoshi and Saawariya, when Salman approached the director to direct Veer that has been penned by him, Bhansali turned down the offer.

Sources report that before finalising Anil Sharma, Salman had approached Bhansali with his period film Veer.

“Salman approached Bhansali as he felt he was the perfect candidate for a period film. The film needs the treatment that one sees in Bhansali’s films. The director is good at establishing grandeur and opulence on screen. However, after reading the script Bhansali politely refused." Apparently, Bhansali wasn’t convinced that the film would work and he decided not to be a part of it.

It was only after Bhansali said no, that Salman approached Anil Sharma (of Gadar fame). “Salman will start the film once he finishes Subhash Ghai’s Main Yuvraaj and Boney Kapoor’s Wanted Dead or Alive,” adds the source. It is learnt that Salman plays the lead in this action-packed film that has a lavish budget of over Rs 75 crores.
